Thai Tea resembles chai (especially the kind served by Starbucks) for it's unique spiciness. Except, instead of cinnamon and cloves, think tamarind (flowery citrus) and star anise (flowery licorice). Also, every Thai Tea I've ever had has been iced.
The main ingredients of Thai Tea are heavy cream and extra strong black tea. The interesting spicy flavor, however, is what really sets this Asian beverage apart. They also tend to be orange (the color). For practical purposes I relate Thai tea with coffee because it's brewed and it tends to be heavily caffeinated.
I got my Thai tea from Lee's Sandwiches, located in Chandler, Arizona on Dobson and Warner. It's an Asian sandwich shop that bakes their own French breads. They also offer a variety of Italian sodas.
